Conversation on Rising Electricity Costs

The price of electricity in Ontario is set to rise over the next two decades, adding to the cost of doing business in the province. The Ontario Chamber Government is taking advocacy steps on behalf of Ontario business owners to address this issue.

On Wednesday, July 8, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce released its latest report, Empowering Ontario: Constraining Costs and Staying Competitive in the Electricity Market, in which it calls on the Government of Ontario to take immediate action to constrain rising electricity costs and help businesses to stay competitive. Co-branded by almost 40 chambers/boards, the report garnered almost unprecedented media attention - a total of over 200 media hits - with features in all major media outlets and throughout local radio and print media across the province. The report was also featured on CTV news and Global News on the evening of its release.

Showcasing Chamber Involvement in the

Toronto Pan Am/Parapan Am Games

The Toronto Pan Am/Parapan Am Games are finally here and events are taking place in municipalities stretching from Oshawa to Welland. Many chambers are directly involved with the Games, and the OCC is keen to showcase the Chamber Network's Participation.

To demonstrate the Chamber Network's involvement as community leaders, the OCC will be issuing a special edition newsletter that will be distributed to the network after the Pan Am/Parapan Am Games end.

OCC President and CEO Allan O'Dette is scheduled for multiple speaking engagements during this period where he will be addressing community-specific initiatives driven by Ontario's local chambers across the Golden Horseshoe. If your chamber would like to be featured in this newsletter and/or in Allan's remarks, please send Yasmin Heyat a brief description of your activities (photos welcome) by Monday, August 17.
